Matthew Kitsikopoulos

Mathew Kitsikopoulos was born in Athens in September 86. He began studying piano in September 1997 with Austrian pianist Professor Max Halleker and by December 2006 continues with pianist John Halleker. He has won awards in international competition Konzerteum (2002) and Music Games (Ministry of Education, 2003).

In 2004, after contest, he represented the Department of Music Science and Art University "Macedonia" at a concert of Franz Lizst Academy in Weimar, Germany. He holds degrees in Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue in class of Professor Alexander Dionatos. He is a graduate of Musicology at the University of Athens. He has participated in seminars internationally renowned piano teacher as Alberto Portugheis, Karin Merle and Berard Ringeissen.

In March 2006, he was awarded the third prize and the special prize for best interpretation of the first project W.A. Mozart Piano Competition "Marie-Chairogiorgou Sigara" at Athens Concert Hall. In January 2008 he gave his diploma examination and found worthy of the degree of excellence and was granted the first prize. In June 2009, he participated as a soloist in the Orchestra Janacek philarmonic under the direction of Betina Schmitt in the Czech Republic. He has also made appearances at events at the University of Athens ("A Tribute to J.S. Bach", May 2009, "A workshop for the year Chopin", May 2010, Music May 2011).

In December 2010, after audition, he was accepted to five graduate programs of the following universities: Royal Nothern College of Music (scholarship), Royal Scottish Academy of Music (scholarship), Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music. He has also participated in series of concerts and recitals at Athens (French Institute, Filippos Nakas Concert Hall, House of New Smyrna, Athens University Hall, Festival City Gerakas, etc.).

From September 2011, he is a student of the Royal Society of London (Royal Academy of Music) in the graduate program: Master of arts in piano solo performance, having won a scholarship at the hearing of Onassis Foundation.
